France and Belgium are neighbours so obviously they love the same sports. France’s number one sport comes as no surprise…it’s football! Popularized by French soldiers during World War I, the French haven’t looked back since. Stars like Zinedine Zidane and Thierry Henry have become real legends in this country. Even though they aren’t doing so well since the mid 2000s, the French will never go against their national team. France is also a huge rugby fan and take this sport very seriously. Of course, the French have great tennis players like Gaël Monfils and Henri Cochet and who can forget about the immensely anticipated yearly Tour de France? Hard to forget since it is the sport with the most spectators. Here are the most popular sports in France:

1. Football

2. Rugby

3. Tennis

The Republic of Congo loves football. Like Belgium, the Congolese national football team is called the Red Devils. The Red Devils have won the All African Games football tournament in 1965 and won the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in 1972. Unfortunately, they’ve never qualified for the World Cup but who says they won’t next time? Congolese also love basketball, handball and volleyball. Serge Ibaka, a Toronto Raptors basketball player, is the pride and joy of the Congolese. Even though he plays in Canada, he is one of the most celebrated athletes in the country.
